Amcor Consolidates Locations with New HQ — Deal marks one of the largest in the Chicago North Suburban Market
Amcor, a global leader in responsible packaging solutions, was in the market to evaluate its U.S. headquarters (HQ) location. Amcor’s goal was to consolidate multiple office locations in various states into one central North American headquarters office. Amcor was focused on finding a high-quality image building that was well-located with access to major expressways, airports and commuter lines. Further, recruitment and retention of top talent was a priority in finding a desirable location. Building amenities were also key in the search. Finally, Amcor wanted to enhance their brand identity with a space and building that reflected their company’s goals and values.
Amcor engaged CBIZ Gibraltar, who worked alongside an out-of-market real estate partner, to be the local leader and primary point of contact for the project. CBIZ Gibraltar cast a wide search in multiple submarkets, including the North, Northwest, O’Hare and CBD submarkets. The team evaluated multiple building options and conducting several property tours over several months. Ultimately, the project team narrowed down a short-list of competing buildings in two submarkets. Upon careful consideration, analysis and evaluating, Amcor ultimately selected a building in the North suburbs that offered the best location with the most advantageous amenities package and deal terms.
CBIZ Gibraltar supported the global packaging leader in securing a new North American corporate office in Deerfield, Il — and the transaction marked one of the largest suburban leases signed in the Chicagoland area. News of the deal made headlines in Crain’s Chicago Business, RE Journals, Chicago Business Journals, and other national news and trade media outlets.
CBIZ Gibraltar was able to secure above market concessions in a unique building that offered exclusive private outdoor access points to Amcor and its employees. In addition, CBIZ Gibraltar secured top building signage for Amcor that helped promote its brand identity and company image. Overall, the Amcor project team was pleased with the outcome and eager to move into their new HQ. For its efforts on the project, CBIZ Gibraltar was nominated for the top Suburban Office Transaction of the Year in 2022 by NAIOP.
