Do You Know Maggie Riceman? Get to Know Gibraltar
Maggie Riceman joined the CBIZ Gibraltar team in 2022. She supports market research and assists client projects in many capacities, providing insight on economic and key market data analysis. Her detailed and aggressive approach to managing existing projects and focus on new client relationships is vital to assisting the Gibraltar team on both a local and national level.
As part of our Get to Know Gibraltar series, we sat down with Maggie and asked her these questions:
What part of your working day makes you think: “This is why I do this job?”
I love the workplace environment. Our team has tremendous expertise, so going into the office and getting to collaborate with them is rewarding. It allows for me to learn and grow as a professional. It is exciting to know that the work we do helps companies do the same — collaborate and grow.
How do you want tenants to feel when they first walk into the office space?
The office should be a place employees look forward to going to — and a big part in making that happen comes down to the space they choose to work. It should meet the needs every stakeholder. The space should promote productivity and motivate teams, while also being a comfortable and fun place to spend their time. So, tenants should feel excited when they first walk into their office space, and every day they return to work in an environment that promotes their success.
Why do you prefer to work in the physical office environment?
As someone who is early in their career, it is important to be working in-person in a physical office environment. It not only supported the transition from an academic career into the business world easier, but the office also allows me to meet new people, create professional relationships, and collaborate with my team in ways that remote work prevents. In-person work supports productivity, training, and development in ways I’ve experienced firsthand. Being in the office and seeing everyone working hard also motivates me to do the same.
What are some of your favorite buildings or offices spaces in Chicago? Why?
One of my favorite office buildings in Chicago is the Willis Tower. Growing up, one of my favorite movies was Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and I always loved the scene of Ferris, Cameron, and Sloane in the Skydeck overlooking Chicago. The views on the higher levels of the Willis Tower are unbeatable.
Another one of my favorite Chicago buildings is 150 North Riverside. The architecture of the building is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It is really cool to see structural innovations come to life that complement their existing surroundings.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I grew up on the East Coast and recently moved to Chicago, so I love finding new things to try and explore across the city. My favorite part about living in Chicago is the summer. I love going to Cubs games, hanging out by the lake, and barbequing with friends. When I’m not at work, I’m out exploring different neighborhoods with friends, trying new restaurants and the city’s many attractions.
